He became friend or had a working relationship with John French Sloan, George Luks, William James Glackens, Ernest Lawson. He influenced the work of some other artists such as Edward Hopper, Rockwell Kent. Among his students and apprentices, we noted that he taught Edward Hopper, George Wesley Bellows, Rockwell Kent, John French Sloan.
